Implicature Analysis on English Textbooks for Junior High School: A Comparison Between National and International English Textbooks

Indonesian government provides both national schools and international with different English exposures language uses that are implemented in the textbooks. Considering importance of understanding implicature for students, it needs to be investigated what type textbook has sufficient resources students� learning. Nevertheless, there is a small number previous researchers consider comparing textbooks from types curricula terms conversational implicature. Therefore, this study aimed identify analyze implied meaning flouting Grice�s maxim used When Rings Bell Junior High School Cambridge Global Lower Secondary textbooks, as well find distinctions shown This employed descriptive qualitative research method content analysis approach. found were 19 conversations 241 pages collected 17 152 which categorized into GCI PCI four maxims (Quality, quantity, relevance, manner). percentage occurrence higher textbook.
